Photo I took at the first (and only) Leverage Con-Con in Portland in 2010.   So sorry to hear the show has been cancelled.  I feel disloyal because I hadn't really watched since mid-S3.  But I really love/loved the characters & actors and the fact it filmed in my hometown.   No more Kane performing in PDX.  No more randomly seeing Aldis while dining in NW Portland (with Mrsr58 and fickleone no less).   No more attending season premier showings.

It was fun while it lasted.

Dear LEVERAGE Fans

As of the writing of this letter, we still do not know if there will be a season six of our show.  Just as we didn’t know when we created the last three episodes which are about to air.  Because of this uncertainty, John Rogers and I decided to end this season with the episode we had planned to make to end the series, way back when we shot the pilot.  So, the episode that will air on Christmas is, in fact, the series finale we had always envisioned.

This is not to say we would not do a season six should we get the opportunity. Everyone involved with the show, from the cast, the crew, the writers and producers, would like nothing more than to continue telling these stories.  But, in case we do not get that opportunity we felt that, creatively, after 77 episodes, we owed it to you, our fans, to end the show properly.

I sincerely hope you watch these last three episodes.  They build to our conclusion.  And the finale, I believe, is the most powerful episode we’ve ever done.

From all of us who make the show, thank you for watching, supporting and encouraging us.  I’ve never experienced a fandom as intense, loyal and wonderful as you all.

Let’s go steal a series finale!

My daughter told me to watch Smash.  So I watched the first episode this morning.

Why did I not hear about this before now?   This pushes all my theater geek buttons.

And Anjelica Huston?  Debra Messing?    Like.

Been catching up on a couple of TV shows that aired during my "dark times", when I wasn't watching much sci-fi type shows.

I'm in the middle of S1 of X-files.  Just now I have a younger Mark Shepperd/Crowley digging in the garden in episode 12 - Fire.   Ha!

Yesterday I saw "Scotty" in the X-Files episode, Space.   "Scotty" was from Scarecrow and also the trucker from And Then There were None.

The other day in X-Files, Ghost in the Machine, I saw the older "Doc" guy from the Simon Says episode.  The one that shot the gun store guy and then got run over by a bus.

Saw David Nutter in the directing credits on one of these.   I IMDB'd Kim Manners and see that he doesn't come until S3ish.

I'm streaming X-Files via Netflix.   Northern Exposure can only be watched via DVDs.  I'm in the middle of S3 of NE.   Love the characters and the quirkiness.

After these two I intend on finally finishing Buffy.  Perhaps then I can proudly hold up my sci-fi geek-TV head.

growyourwings: (Glee: Kurt & Blaine)
EW article about Kurt and Blaine of Glee (here)

Excerpts:

"It was telling that when Colfer took home a Golden Globe on Jan. 16 for his moving portrayal of a bullied teen, his tear-jerking acceptance speech ended with these words of encouragement to fans: “To all the amazing kids who watch our show…who are constantly told ‘No’…by bullies at school that they can’t be who they are… well, screw that, kids.” "

"
Jason Galisatus, a 17-year-old student ambassador for GLSEN, would be the first to agree with Murphy. “I think that Kurt will become a historical figure in LGBT history,” says Galisatus. “My friends talk about the episode where he came out to his dad. We all talk about how amazing that is and how crazy it must be to live in a conservative, Midwestern community and be able to be open about your sexuality. That’s very inspiring to all of us, and we can say, ‘Well, hey, if Kurt can do it, why can’t we?’ "

"
“They’re kind of like the Joanie and Chachi of our generation,” Colfer says."

I spent the night at my mother's last night.  Around 11pm we searched through her On Demand list and I asked if she'd seen the new H50.   She hadn't.   She agreed to watch one (the last new ep aired).   I think she agreed  out of being nice.   However, when the episode was over, she turned to me and said, "is that it?  It's over?   I want to know what happens next!"

Ha!   I swear I don't think I've known one person who's seen the show and not liked it!

She said she really enjoyed it!

And Steve & Danno banter is very, very quickly becoming one of my favorite things about this show (and fic about the show.)

And on the SPN front.  Thinking of my friends at SFCon.  Hoping they are having a blast.   Heard the Ostroff / CW hint saying S7 is looking pretty much like a sure thing.   \O/

Interesting survey.   Part of me thinks that perhaps having an online survey might sqew (sp??) skew (thanks M!) some of the answers.   But I still think it will be interesting to see the results.

You can find it here.  Found via a link provided by [livejournal.com profile] cha .

Yay!

It is so AWESOME to have a truly EPIC SPN SQUEEFEST going on!

And I read the scanned TV Guide article posted via [livejournal.com profile] ontd_spnparty .  I don't CARE if it's spoilerific!   (and it really, really is.)   It was wonderful!

Saw the guys being interviewed with their thanks.

It is wonderful.

growyourwings: (CHEER New Day)
I had a not so good day at work today.   Mostly minor irritations that somehow made me feel bitchy.   But I won't bore you with the details.

Instead!  I come home in a not great mood (aka bitchy) and find out that Top Chef is BAAACCCKK!   I don't follow when these shows come and go and so this was such a wonderful surprise.   I love this show.  It ranks up there with Project Runway for me.

And I just saw the opening few minutes and it looks AWESOME!   They've brought back contestants from all previous seasons.   I am so excited.

Suddenly I don't feel quite so bitchy!

Carla is back!  (I loved Carla).   Fabio!   Hey, hey Marcel!    And Tre gets another chance after being eliminated too early last time.  Jen & Casey!  Angelo!   This promises to be very interesting.  I hope it fulfills that promise!

This made me smile this morning.  I so like the new H50!  This CBS Promo is officially titled "Don't call it a bromance."

Guys, I spent some time this evening and joined some H50 communities.  I'd already joined some Glee communities.

But then I actually spent some time and loaded up a few Glee and H50 icons.  I really need to do the same for Mad Men but since it's on hiatus I don't have as much motivation to do so.  I joined Mad Men communities quite a long time ago.

Hmmm... I should also get me some Sherlock icons.   Joined Sherlock communities almost as soon as the show aired on BBC.

I guess I'm branching out a bit.

(SPN will always be first love though!)

That was a good episode!

What is it about the opening music that never fails to make me feel good?   I remember watching the original series and playing the song in band in Jr. High.

While SPN will be the show of my heart, it's so nice to watch shows like H50 and Glee and just sit back and enjoy the fun, angst-free.

Will I ever go to cons/events for these shows?  Nope.  I haven trouble believing I'll ever do that for any other show.  Even though I have gone (and may go again) to the Leverage con--that's because it's in my home town.  Honestly, I wouldn't travel to go to it.

Would I ever fangirl these actors like Jensen & Jared?  Likely not.  I may watch other shows with them in them because I've enjoyed them in this (or in BSG or Lost), but that would likely be the extent of it.

J&J have something just a bit special about them (individually and together) you know?

But still, angst free is an enjoyable break.
