I spent a lot of yesterday going down memory lane regarding some early childhood memories. And Mad Men ended up kicking me all the way back. I felt transported back to the Sixties and my childhood SO DAMN MUCH with last night's episode. When Mad Men started it was still early enough in the sixties that a lot of it still felt very Fifties to me. But as they progress more into the Sixties I'm more and more really FEELING it.
For instance I semi freaked when I saw this last night...
That is my mother's sewing machine! And I owned and used this exact machine up until like LAST YEAR! I loved that machine. Sturdy, reliable. Always worked. But I haven't sewn anything in years. Sewing was/is my mother's thing. And back during the Sixites & Seventies it actually made financial sense to sew your own clothes. Now fabric costs more than buying the clothes ready-made. Mom still loves to sew, but only because it is one of her passions. I finally caved and got rid of this machine last year. It was hard for me to do.
I really, really like this show. Last night's episode was terrific.
