To me this has been the best season of Project Runway yet.
Am I sad that Mondo did not win? Of course. As a person Mondo is amazing. As a creator he is even more amazing. He is genius.
But would I wear his clothes? Even assuming I could fit in them ;) , Mondo's style is not my style. Even if I do recognize it's a AMAZING style. (I did like that aztecy tunic.)
But I would wear Gretchen's clothes. Her style is definitely my style. I loved her collection.
I'm not upset that Gretchen won. I think she has grown. If the Gretchen of the first half of the show had won, I would have been less pleased as she was, frankly, way to cocky and a bit unfeeling of others. However, whether that changed or she just started to show herself differently., I'm very ok with her winning.
Plus it kinda tickles me that the last two winners of Project Runway are from my community! Who would have thought the PDX/Vanc area would be part of the fashion scene?? My sister-in-law, who is an amazing seamstress and works in the industry here locally, is now working with last year's winner. It would be cool if she ended up working with Gretchen as well. But somehow I think Gretchen won't stay here long.
I liked so much about this season. I liked so many of the contestants. I liked the drama. And I liked how, in the end, so many of the contestants seem to truly support each other.
Plus I like that I got my mother interested in watching. I don't know why it never occurred to me before to get her to watch as sewing runs in her blood.
I miss it when Project Runway is not on the air. Bummer that it's over.
