G R O W Y O U R W I N G S

I was curious to see if I could do ANYTHING with the really lousy photos I took at LA in 2008. I had this small, portable camera that was no where near adequate to take these kinds of photos. As I told my daughter the other day, I can do a lot with photos now, but one the things I cannot fix is blur. But I can compensate a bit for it.

So here are just two LA 2008 photos I messed with tonight. I found a few more I may be able to do something with. When or if I get the time. Tomorrow I need to actually go to bed at a decent hour as I've something kind of important to get to!

I don't even remember what prompted this. I was looking for something in Photoshop and ended up doing these two fanart pieces for 5x10.

See this is my problem with doing icons--my eyes cannot see the PRETTY. Hmmpph.

Decided to resurrect one of my LA Con 2009 photos and apply some of the filtering techniques I've learned recently. Still not as good as those I've done with elsiecat's photos since mine are not as sharp as hers.

I had an all day meditation class yesterday. Pretty intensive. Kinda wiped me out -- in a good way but still very tiring. Good news is that among other things, participating in the class seems to have removed my insomnia--at least for one night anyway. Slept long and good last night.

Just one Misha header/banner--from elsiecat 's ChiCon 2009 photos. I want to do more with her photos--but it may take several days as I've got RL (Thanksgiving, etc) stuff coming up.

Thanks to elsiecat and my insomnia of last night I now have a new layout.

I finally figured out that it was that darn black curtain backdrop that was messing with my Photoshop-fu in trying to make headers out of any J2 panel pics. While I liked some of my results, they were all so dark and I wanted something more lively.

So since I couldn't sleep last night...I ended up doing this. And I was very happy with the results. So I played some more to adapt one of them for a new header and came up with this...


It has a transparent background so the background colors you see will depend upon the background of the page you are viewing.

Then I played around with my layout and the final results are below.


Plus I made a shiny new icon to match! And I think this is the first icon I've ever made that I really like. (Not that I've made a lot, mind you.)

I still think I like simpler formats better. However I'm playing around with doing more than just a simple filter and framing. I like some of these better than others.

I'm posting this because perhaps I may like it in the morning. But right now I'm very doubtful of that. The Js are from elsiecat's wonderful Chicon J2 panel photos.

I wanted to try a header-type format with both Js in it. I wanted them looking at each other. But I pinky-swear that I was NOT going for lovey-dovey or cutsey. But it seemed like no matter what I tried I got either or both lovey-dovey or cutsey. *headdesk* And this is two images that I placed together so Jensen isn't even looking at Jared in the RL photo. Damn man, you have to stop looking at everyone that way.

The black curtains made it more challenging because I did not feel like cutting out the boys from the background. Heh. In the end that would have likely been faster! *g*

So whatever. I give up. I'm frustrated. And I think I have gremlins in my Macbook. Grrrr....




Oh! I did watch SPN 5x10... Should I say I cried? I cried. Damn show. *luvs*

ETA: Grumpy post is grumpy. I made an icon out of this as well. I really don't like making icons. They frustrate me even more because I never seem to put one together that satisfies me and they are so freakin' SMALL! *sigh*
