At least according to this here.

"Fans of Supernatural, though, do have a silver lining -- last night, season 3's "A Very Supernatural Christmas" repeat managed to surpass Smallville's unusually anemic numbers, making it the network's highest-rated scripted show for the week."

More in the link above.  Way Cool!!!!  Nice piece of news to wake up to.  First thing I read this morning.

--RL Update---

Also finally got to sleep last night.  Had to guzzle a beer to do so.  I think I slept about 12 hours.

Hubby's making bacon right now--smells good.

Hubby:   "Hi!"
Me:         *looks blankly and groggily* "Hi back."
Hubby:   "Isn't that a chair?"
Me:         *looks more groggily--then gets it*  "Wow--you're on top of things today"  *blearily sips coffee*
Hubby:   "I got me a trophie wife" *hands me a piece of bacon*
Me:         *smiles, again blearily"

So the second thing I read this morning is THIS.  A Top 15 from [personal profile] ellel on Dean's Smiles.

*AAAHH That hits the spot!"

According to an interview Todd Farmer did HERE.  AND someone called Jensen a "young Steve McQueen"

\O/

"TF: There's no camp. There's some real humor that comes out of real situations but no camp. It's still creepy and still atmospheric. These are real people facing real scares and real brutality. And when I say "real" I mean quirky and flawed and loving and pissed off and brilliant. And much of that brilliance is due to the actors. Jensen Ackels [sic] is a force of nature, always surprising you with his choices. Patrick calls him a young Steve McQueen. Kerr Smith brings a depth and intellect that I'm not used to seeing in his generation of actors. The movie is better with him in the role. Jaime King is beautiful with a smile that melts and breaks your heart at the same time. This was an emotionally and physically demanding role which she nailed. Betsy, Edi, Kevin, Tom, Megan...all in all it's humbling to have a cast like this giving performances like they've given."

I added the bold, italic emphasis (cuz it's the most IMPORTANT part of this after all).  AND I did NOT add the mispelling BTW.

Perhaps [profile] fickleone will remember that even before FPB I compared Jensen to Steve McQueen.

ETA:  Yes I'm geeky.  I just searched my email and found this which I emailed [profile] fickleone on June 1, 2007:

"For some reason I started thinking today about what "old-time" movie star you could equate to Jensen.  For some reason Steve McQueen came to mind and won't leave it.  So what do you think?  Jensen = Steve McQueen?"

To which she replied:

"YES!!  I love(d) Steve McQueen."

Now I have to find the airing date for FPB--because this was likely AFTER that.  But oh well...I still called. it.

ETA2:  FPB aired on April 26, 2007.  So perhaps that caused Jensen = Steve McQueen to wedge itself in my brain.

I was inspired by a comment by [personal profile] laurondo  to do a tribute post to Steve McQueen after Todd Farmer's interview referred to Jensen Ackles as a "young Steve McQueen."

I admit it's been years since I've watched a Steve McQueen movie.  So I went out and downloaded "The Great Escape" from iTunes and rewatched it this afternoon.  I wanted, at the least, to nab some screen caps of the solitary scene comparing those images of Hilts to Dean in FPBs.

Plus while I definitely associate Jensen with McQueen, I wasn't sure that McQueen had the same abilities as Jensen to express so much by the raise of an eyebrow, the look in his eye, his body language, etc.  I wouldn't be able to tell that for sure from one action movie.  But I wanted to look for it.

Read on for my McQueen tribute and comparisons to Jensen.  (Note none of the images are mine unless I mention I took a screen cap.)  At the end I make my pick between who wins--Steve McQueen or Jensen Ackles.

Someday perhaps I'll do a "bad ass" Dean picspam.  But for now I hereby declare Jensen Ackles to be the New and Improved Steve McQueen.

But you know what?  Any public comparison of Jensen as a young Steve McQueen can only help draw attention to Jensen, where he can then blow them away with his acting and all-around nice-guy while still being cool abilities.  Being associated with McQueen's "mystique" can only be a good thing.
