Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mrsr58  who sent me the link to THIS.

Cynthia (was she the one who broke the "they're living together!" news?  can't remember) talks about her experience at the con.

Some favorite bits:

"there were a thousand other fans along for the ride but hey, I don’t mind sharing. When it comes to Supernatural, the more the merrier and certainly the crazier! "

And [profile] jo_anne8 !!! lookie, lookie!  L's questions were awesome and you were terrific for asking them!

"There was an enormous amount of laughter (especially when Jared joined him on stage) but there were some poignant moments, too. When asked to tell a story about Jared, Jensen chose to list his friend’s best qualities including a deep passion and loyalty to his family, friends and of course, his dogs."

And..

"When asked what the fans could do in return for all the joy he’s given us he simply said, “just keep on doing what you’re doing.” Watch the show, tell you friends and “wearing a shirt with my picture on it. That’s instant gratification right there!”"

....

Yes, we're awesome!

So I guess I now have to go out and buy a copy of EW Weekly.  I assume that's a magazine?  *is lame*

And once I buy it I can't even read it until, what?  May?  I guess it has spoilers.

Someone...missyjack?....said it talks about the show's rising popularity and about Kripke's resolve to keep it to five seasons.

"Rising popularity!"

*fist pump*  !!

So...remember I'm lame...is this considered a major, mainstream magazine?

In the same vein, I had a brief conversation with the "roaming" photographer at the LA Con breakfast.  I think her name is Elizabeth or a derivative thereof.

She said she was working with a couple of authors who were writing a book about the fandom phenomonum (sp???!!).  They were spending a lot of time on the SPN fandom.

Do you think it's because we're awesome?  I think it's because we're awesome.

The authors have been to all the SPN cons and have gone behind the scenes as well.  She didn't know when the book was going to come out.  She said they were taking a very academic approach to it and would be using some of her photos.

Yes, we're awesome.

After all, it was the SPN fandom that caused the busiest weekday work day in Creation's 40-year history when we sold out the gold tickets for Vanc Con on the first day of sale. Sometimes I'd like to go behind the scenes at Creation to compare cons.  I suspect they think we're a little crazy (naturally).  But they sure recognize a cash cow when they see one.

Jason Concert and Panel Photos
SPN LA Con 2009

The panel and concert photos are intermixed. Not going to separate them. It's pretty obvious which are which. I took a LOT of photos of Jason during the concert.

Misha Photos
SPN LA Con 2009

Misha appeared at the very end of Sunday. I was SO tired. I wasn't even trying to get good photos. Most of these sucked. Luckily I've learned a lot more about Photoshop since the con and I was able to adjust for the bad lighting of these photos. I think my flash battery must of died or something.

Richard was as entertaining as ever! That man has an amazingly expressive face. I missed talking to him at the Desert Party because of some delays and I was SO TIRED! (more on the Desert Party in another post.)

Julie's Photos
SPN LA Con 2009

Julie was the first panel on this day and I was still struggling trying to get my camera working correctly. It's too bad because she really was very pretty and adorable. I loved what she was wearing. She was so colorful!

She'll be at the Vanc Con so I'll get another chance to get better shots of her.

Gabe's Panel

I've included links to vids or other photo posts (wolfpup2000 for example) at the bottom of this post for my own reference. If you haven't already checked out wolfpup2000's photos (and I'm betting you have!), see the link under these photos for some fantastic close ups.

I've also put some comments in with the photos. These are from my recollection augmented by some videos I've seen. I'm not going to promise to do this for all the posts. I may run out of patience. But I like the idea of being able to refer back to this later.

Also, here's a link to my Master Post for all my LA Con 2009 reports.

Overall conclusion - Gabe is ADORABLE!

But we all already knew that...

Okay so I'm lame and lost the piece of paper that tells us how to claim the Misha photo ops.

Can anyone out here who went clue me in?

Samantha Smith Photos
From SPN LA Con 2009

I enjoyed all the times I've seen Sam Smith at an SPN Con. She's a TV geek just like us! And she's one of the few SPN actors who seems to be as into the show as we are.

My main Sam story is about what she said to our table at the Desert Party. I believe someone at our table asked her about the ghost story she's referred to a couple of times in her panels. Asking an SPN actor about "supernatural" stories is a pretty standard con question.

Sam's story had to do with a ghost that she believed was hanging around her house. I'm reaching into the threads of my memory right now--perhaps someone else at our table can help out my memory. I seem to recall Sam saying that her baby girl was reacting to the ghost and pehraps that her husband had seen it as well. The main thing I remember about her story is that she either or both had someone come in to get rid of the ghost and/or she burned some sage and that's helped to keep him away.

Man my memory sucks since it's 4 months after the fact.

Anyway, Sam looked more like Mary this time than last time. Last time I never would have recognized her.

This was the first time I'd seen Alona. She was cute and bubbly and I enjoyed seeing her. At one point in the panel when she laughed, Alona said that she giggled like a little girl. She was very cute. I think she said she woke up very early that day just to be there and was very excited and it was always fun for her.

Aldis Photos from LA Con 2009

I found them! I had named all his photos "Jake"! *headdesk* (This post is post-dated. I'm making this entry on July 5th.)

In my defence, back when LA Con 2009 took place, I really only knew of Aldis from his brief appearance as Jake. I was so supprised at how excited everyone was when it was announced the day before I left for LA that Aldis would be appearing. I mean, he had all of, what, 20 minutes (maybe) of film time on the show? AND he didn't do a nice thing after all!

Then I heard folks talk about Leverage, but I didn't have time to watch another show. But then fickleone and my brother got into Leverage and it started filming in Portland and Chris, Aldis, Tim Hutton, Steve, etc started showing up at a local Portland venue for Kane/Carlson gigs.

And then just yesterday (July 4th--this is being post-dated), fickleone and my brother got me to watch the first ep of Leverage.

I GET it! Okay! I GET it!

Plus, of course, Aldis was freaking adorable on stage in LA. So entertaining! What a ball of ENERGY! He's only, what, 22? Of course, I don't remember the details of what he said now, but I do remember loving watching him on stage. His mother, sister, and brother (I think) were nearby and he pointed them out and was so proud of them.

It's been what? Four months since LA Con 2009? Sheessh.

This post is being done retroactively. Today is actually July 5th! I'm dating this back to match with my other LA Con posts. I realized yesterday that I never finished editting and posting my remaining photos of the con. So I'm playing catch-up!

Malik Photos

I have a ridiculous amount of photos Malik. The number of photos I have of him is only 2nd behind Jared and Jensen! I guess the guy's pretty photogenic! I wish I could recall the details of his panel. But hey...it's 4 months later! My memory ain't what it used to be!

SPN LA Con 2009
Dessert Party

For some reason my Dessert Party photos never really turn out.  Maybe because it's late at night.   I can't recall now if I bring my good camera or just my little portable.  Likely the portable--hence the sucky photos.

There's a bit of a story around this Dessert Party.  Let's see if I can recall it.

The party started late because the Jason/Steve concert was delayed by, oh, maybe as much as an hour?  They were having technical sound problems.  So the 11-11:30ish Dessert Party started even later.

Misha had been delayed due to filming and we weren't sure he was going to make it at all.  But he showed up at the tail end of the Steve/Jason concert.  I got an excited txt message from fickleone (who was seated on the opposite side of the room from me) that Misha had just been spotted off to the side of the stage area.

We were excited to get into the Dessert Party room because it was the same room and set up that would be used for the J2 Breakfast and while we had a table number, we had no idea where the table would be.  We were thrilled to find out that our tables were 2nd row center!  They were just about the perfect location!  So cool.  And we wouldn't have to get up at like 4 am in the morning to queue up to find a table seat.  Such a relief!  Especially since the Dessert Party was likey to go to at least 1:30-2 am since it was starting late.  (Ugh.)

So the regular Dessert Party process was followed.  All the guests were introduced and went to the "stage area".  Misha was announced last and everyone cheered to see him show up.

The room was much larger with more attendees than the past cons.  Twice as large I'd say.  So even with only about 3 minutes per guest visit, there were so many tables I knew it was going to be 1-1/2 to 2 hours before we got out of there.

Misha's visit to our table was memorable.  He was so cool!  He was at the table next to us and was supposed to go down a different row according to his "handler's" plan.  But our table schemed to get him to us next.  Fickleone and the lady next to her moved apart to make an opening for him--it was right next to where he was seated at the table next to us.

As soon as Misha stood up, we called out "Misha! Sit here!"  And he did!  Much to his handler's mild disgruntlement!  Ha!

So Fickleone got to sit right next to Misha during his visit to our table.  And I was right next to her.  So cool.  I was so excited to be seated so near him that I don't even remember the question our table asked him or his answer!  Oh well.

Sam Smith (Mary), stopped by later and told her ghost story (see the Sam panel report for details).  Then Steve and one of his band-mates.  Jason stopped by somewhere in there as well.  I couldn't even hear Jason because it was so noisey.  And I don't really remember what Steve talked about because his band-mate (who was very nice btw) sat near me and he was who I listened to.  Steve seemed engrossed in a conversation with someone he knew at our table.

Malik stopped by as well.  He was fun to talk with.  And gorgeous (of course.)

Then the "excitement" started.

The main convention supervisor (can't recall her name) started running between the two doors to the room.  And the other convention volunteers were closing off the doors and going between the doors and talking to each other excitedly.  We were waiting for Richard to come to our table, but he was WAY off on the other side of the room and we knew it would be some time before he got to us.  So we were engrossed by what seemed to be happening with the convention workers.

We started to see the convention workers turn away people who wanted to leave the room either to go to the bathroom or to just leave.  They were not letting anyone leave!  By now it was almost 1 am.

We finally called over the convention supervisor and asked her what was going on.  Turns out some group of drunk guys were being rowdy and breaking things.  Creation wasn't letting any of us leave out of concern that these guys were still roaming the hallways.  There'd evidently been reports of them causing problems throughout the hotel.

I was getting tired and Richard was still on the other side of the room.  And I knew we had to be up early the next morning.  So when Creation finally said they'd escort groups of people back to their rooms, fickleone and I decided to go with the first batch of folks.

Now this was bizarre.  They took us out the room and into one of the hotel worker hallways.  We ended up going through kitchens, back hallways, utility areas (who knew the hotel was this big?).  We climbed up back stairwells.  It was kinda hilarious.  Finally we queued up by this service elevator that could only take like 5 people at a time and there were like 30-40 of us!  Fickleone and I had our room on the main floor which was only one floor up, so we snuck into another stairwell (un-escorted--weren't we daring! ha!)  And found our way back to our room.  It was likely past 2 am by this time.  We were exhausted and went right to bed.

ETA:  Feel free to snag and use photos in icons, etc.  Just credit me.  Also please don't hotlink!  For the first time I exceeded my monthly bandwidth--on the 1st day of the month!  I signed up for a Pro account for the next three months.  But would rather not keep it up past the initial hits these posts get.  Someone asked if I could upload a zip file with the photos.  I'll try to do that within the next few days.  I need to actually clean my house soon--my guys kinda let it go a bit while I was in LA!

J2 Panel - Part 1

This may well be my longest post for the con. As I was going through the J2 Panel pics I realized I remembered enough to add commentary. So we'll see how that goes.

Because of the number of pics, I think I will be breaking this up into two posts.
