Start of boring computer-related rant.....

Had to spend and hour this morning dealing with a notification from Comcast that they've blocked port 25 because they believe some computer in our house has been infected with a bot that is sending out spam.  Very possible since a few days ago our office computer went belly-up and my husband and son took it on themselves to fix it--for which I was grateful and impressed as well.

Everyone in this house uses web-based email except for me.  I use Apple Mail.  So I was the only one impacted when Comcast started blocking port 25.  It meant that I couldn't send out any email unless I used web-based email.  For some reason I've never grown to like web-based email.

I finally was able to reroute my outbound email through another port.  But it was annoying to have to deal with this without my breakfast and morning coffee.

/end of boring computer-related rant

So now I need to browse the INTERNETZ for some SPN meta, glee, and/or fanfic.

From here.  Dammit.  At least they better not turn it into another year-long hiatus!  I want them to just show the damn episodes already.  They get momentum going and then....a break.  *fumes*

Also confirmed by the network on Friday:

-- "Battlestar Galactica's" final season will likewise be split into two parts, the first of which wraps up on Friday, June 13 at 10:00/9:00c. The 10 remaining episodes will then roll out sometime during the 2008-09 season.

man!

o boy.

I.  Can't.  Believe. It.

How stupid can one network be?

From digg

and  another

This article says it all for me!

I was almost *completely* off TV watching about 1-1/2 years ago.  Then iTunes posted this show called LOST.  I downloaded an episode because I had just bought a new video iPod and I was curious about how a TV show would look on it.  I got so hooked on the first episode that I downloaded the entire season (for about $40ish bucks) and watched them until 3am.

Then I tracked down LOST fanfic and got even more hooked.

Then I found *other* shows on iTunes:  the new Battlestar Galactica and Heroes, for example.   Then Kyle XY.  I probably never would have gotten hooked on these shows without iTunes.  And I *WON'T" go back to watching them on a specific day, time, and with commercials.

Since that moment when I first downloaded LOST on iTunes I've become so much more involved with TV programming than I have in YEARS.  And I talk about these shows to friends, familys, and co-workers and THEY have gotten hooked on them and are either buying DVDs, watching commercial TV, or buying through iTunes.

And I find other shows and music via these shows--and BUY all that STUFF!

Now NBC may be doing me a favor (my pocketbook and real-life free-time) in the long run.

But they are just being stupid.

It may finally be time to get a TIVO.

END-OF-PUBLIC-RANT (for now)
