growyourwings: (SPN Dean It's SPN Day!)
I was working on waking myself up and thinking about my day when I realized....OMG it's SPN day!!!!

I rewatched The End with my daughter and her friend Alex yesterday.  It was very gratifying since Alex (who's been watching along with us a few days after the fact) was all kinda dismissing the 5x04 episode ever since he saw the preview (he was saying that the concept was all so cliche.)

My daughter and Alex thought they'd seen Croatoan.  I told them that I bet they hadn't because it was so long ago.  So we watched that first (and sure enough they had not seen it.)

They we watched Tne End and it was great to see Alex change his mind about the episode.

Anyway---

\O/ for Thursday!

I was hungry for lunch but there was no open-and-eat foodstuffs in the house.  In the past I'd order pizza or go out for take-out Chinese.

I love to make meals, but only when I'm "in the mood."  Not because I'm hungry and need something to eat.

But we're trying a new household budget (and doing real good at it too.)  So I decided to try to pull something quick together.

I had left over chicken breasts from dinner the other night.  Cut them up.  Cooked a handful of spiral pasta for 8 min.  Cut up part of a carrot and some green onions.  Mixed olive oil and balsamic vinegar for a dressing (just shaken in a small tuperware container.)  Mixed everything in a bowl.  Added dried thyme, a little fresh lemon juce, and some craisins (which I'm addicted to right now btw) and some pine nuts.  (ETA:  Oh!  Forgot that I added some shredded parmesan cheese too!)

Took less than 10 minutes.  Ended up with enough for two meals.  Tastes pretty good.  Plus I didn't spent $20 for lunch!

*pats self on back*

(for what it's worth!  heh!)

...and no this isn't for SPN or the boys...  (um...the boys...oh wait what?  oh yeah I'm posting...sorry!  ;-)

Made cookies just now!  I was in the mood for craisins (I mentioned my craisin addiction right?)  I made this recipe.  It's wonderful!

One piece of advice though if you decide to make it--the recipe says to let the cookies cool on the sheet for 2-3 minutes before removing.  Well I let them cool for quite a bit longer than 2-3 minutes--and they were a little tough to remove.  I removed the cookies pretty quickly from the 2nd sheet and had no problems.  Plus, note that the recipe calls for a greased cookie sheet.  I don't usually see cookie recipes that call for a greased sheet and almost didn't notice the instruction and then almost ignored it--but nope, you need the cookie sheet to be greased!

(oh wow, I can't believe how domesticated I'm becoming.  If you'd asked me 24 months ago I would have ROFL in your face!)

ETA:  Updated to warn you that these are very BADLY BEHAVED cookies!  They keep tempting me with their chewy wonderfulness.  Bad, bad, bad cookes.  *eyes one before I glomp it down*  I kid you not!  I finish one and just find myself thinking...MOAR!!!

(first off I've gotten NOTHING done I was planning to today because I've been so absorbed in LJ land today. but not the point of this post..)

I really appreciate being spoiler free because I've found I enjoy episodes that much more for being surprised.

But when I see something like this...

I just sit there, stare, and resist temptation while all the while thinking...but I wanna know TOO! (dammit.)  :-)

And omg..how is it actually already 4pm????

(Oh--but the good news about being 4pm is that it's that much closer to 9pm!!)

Dbl Oh! I just realized that screen shot I just put above may have an icon from one of my Vancon photos. It might also be someone elses, but the angle is more like the shots I took. I always get such a kick and a little thrill when I recognize my photos being used somewhere. Makes me smile!

Yup! I think it's from this photo from Vancon.

I'm feeling hyper--perhaps it's from watching Vitamin D, the recent ep of Glee!  ;-)
