Queen of Wands
Dec. 19th, 2008 11:15 amI have a friend who has been collecting Tarot cards for years. She has about 30 decks. Assuming it doesn't get canceled due to weather, I'm going to her house on Sunday for Solstice celebration and to look at and talk about her Tarot cards.
She was at the CYL dinner a week ago and she mentioned that one of the things she's done is pick a card a week/day/month (whichever works) and meditate on it's meaning for her and study it's meaning from others. Sounded like a good idea, but I kinda forgot about it.
This morning when I woke up I discovered my Golden Tarot deck sitting beside my chair. I'd lost track of it and I guess hadn't noticed it sitting there. I remembered R's card study and randomly picked a card from the deck.
It was the Queen of Wands.

When I first started learning about Tarot I read a suggestion to thumb through a deck and pick out a card that "spoke to you" in some way. I did that--the first card that spoke to me all those weeks ago was this card--Queen of Wands. (Immediately after I came across the Queen of Cups which also spoke to me strongly.)
So I mused on this card this morning. As I looked at the card I felt strength and confidence and passion. I felt warmth. I felt determination. The card made me feel very connected. In fact for the first time in days I spontaneously connected and felt the internal vibrations that I'd been lacking over the past several days. It made me feel very good.
Later today I did some googling and found the following statements about this card:
"The Queen of Wands represents the aspects of fire that are most important to us. She is warmth, sensitivity, gentleness and faithfulness as well as strength and determination."
"the Queen of Wands represents fidelity, warmth, and sustenance."
"This combination results in a card which represents a vivacious and warm personality, full of a fiery passion put to the service of encouragement, assurement, attraction, esteem, and enthusiasm."
"The Queen of Wands is said by some to represent one's basic instinct. Her strength and task are providing initial inputs. She says to you that you must think of the consequences of what you do, but that you must be sure to focus on what will get you moving and how to do it." "Directness, spontaneity and independence are very special talents that others admire, as long as you accept that others may be your polar opposite. Don't get tricked into becoming impatient. If the sun "shines" in your heart, you can overcome your fears and walk your own path. "Approach your tasks as steps and take every one of them with assurance (quote of Evelin Burger and Johannes Fiebag)""
"The Queen of Wands represents a woman who knows exactly what she wants out of life, and aims at her goals with great dedication."
" She is often a woman who has experienced conflict and trauma, and learned from these. She's usually independent, forthright and self-motivated. As a friend she will be loyal and honest, though sometimes given to handing out unwelcome advice, and taking over."
"As a parent she can be quite dominant, claiming that she wants her off spring to be self-reliant and confident, but sometimes tending to become impatient, and do things on their behalf in her own way, rather than allowing her children to make up their own minds." "She's a fighter, who does not suffer fools gladly. She will support and assist those who are vulnerable and needy, offering unceasing energy and determination. She takes up causes readily, and proves herself a worthy adversary. However she has a tendency not to know when to stop, and enjoys being at the forefront of the battle, rather than beavering away on the more routine aspects of any campaign."
"This is a forceful and proud woman. She applies high standards to everything she becomes involved in. As a result, she can sometimes be somewhat intolerant of people who do things differently."
"So - The Queen of Wands - a fine ally, and a dangerous enemy!"
"The personality of the Queen of Wands combines the positive fire energy of the Wands suit with the inward focus of a Queen. She is the one voted most popular in her class. She is always attractive and often good-looking in the classical sense. Her warm smile and easygoing manner bring her lots of friends and admirers. Her energy is contagious, and her enthusiasm, total. No matter what the task, she tackles it with wholehearted dedication and commitment. Nothing gets her down. She is always upbeat and cheerful - ready to look for the positive in the situation. Her life is full and busy, and she prefers it that way. She loves to be going and doing. She keeps up this pace because she is radiantly healthy and fit. She is often a good athlete, being naturally strong and coordinated. Although she's never arrogant, the Queen of Wands has a deep faith in her own abilities. Her quiet self-assurance comes from the knowledge that she can accomplish whatever she sets her mind to."
"In readings, the Queen of Wands asks you to think and feel as she does. For example: Do you feel attractive? Do you believe in yourself? Are you full of energy? Can you shake off the blues? Are you gung ho about life?"
"This Queen can also represent a man or woman who is like her, or an atmosphere of cheerful and confident enthusiasm. In a reading, she tells you that her special energy has meaning for you at this time. Let yourself be inspired by this Queen in whatever form she appears in your life."
"A lady of the manor either living in or loving the country. A very generous, capable and fair person especially in her dealings with people. A woman who is both fertile in mind and body and a homemaker. She enjoys social ease due to her charm and is protective towards those in her circle. The card may also indicate the success of a project."
