Karaoke party at Creation's Salute to Supernatural Vegas Convention, March 2013. One of my favorite parts of the conventions. Thanks to Creation for letting the guests and fans celebrate in style. :)

In addition to fans, on stage were Richard Speight Jr., Matt Cohen, Rob Benedict, James Patrick Stuart, Chad Lindberg, Kurt Fuller (who was not scheduled for this con, but dropped in anyway), the Elastic Waste Band (aka Loudin Swain), and Gabe Tigerman (I'm probably forgetting someone.)

Since we were in Vegas, the theme was Viva Las Vegas and Matt and Richard dressed up as young and old Elvis; in true campy Vegas style. The fan version of the SPN Harlen Shake was filmed during the event. I've photos of that as well, but uploaded separately. I'll track them down and link them to the series. I have several more photos from this event, but don't have time to upload them tonight.

I also have photos of either Gabe or Rob (Rob, I think) crowd surfing. It was after midnight, so was in another file. I'll get to it in the few days and post it to this series. :)   It may take me a few days as I have a LOT of karaoke photos.

One of my favorite bits from the Jensen meet and greet yesterday was Jensen telling us that Peter Roth, Chief Exec of Warner Brothers, shows this SPN made outtake to board meetings to demonstrate how viral / fun cast/crew made videos can grow a successful show. :)



Jensen went on to say that the SPN Harlem Shake video was not really his idea.  Brian Rose (Rosie) and another SPN camera operator were looking at Harlem Shake videos on a phone and Brian called over Jensen to see.  Jensen had never heard of it.  Brian told Jensen that they should totally do one of these.  Jensen said sure!  Why not?  And Jensen then went to Kevin Parks and said Kevin should relax their schedule a bit on the following Monday because they were going to do this fun thing.   Then it spread and turned into the video that was released last week and that now had over 4 million hits on Youtube.




Jensen went on to say that after they shot the video, they sent it down to LA to Phil Scriccia to see if they wanted any more editing.  Phil said it was great and go for it.  It was Jared's idea to double check with WB to see if they would be okay with it.   Jared emailed Peter Roth, the Chief Exec of WB and said basically, "You know how you show the Eye of the Tiger bit to executive boards to show them how a fun, cast/crew made viral video can help build a successful show?" (paraphrased, of course.)   We all went, "really?"  I thought that was cool.  Jensen said, yeah, Roth shows the video to boards to help convince them that a cast & crew that have fun are more creative and create things like this which connect them to the fans, which builds the fanbase, which creates a successful show.

Neat.

Roth okayed with with legal and said go for it.

And now the SPN Vegas Con guests (Matt, Richard, Rob, etc.) did a Karaoke SPN Harlem Shake.

During the J2 Panel, Jensen talked about how having a fun set made for a more creative, happy, and successful work environment.  I think both Jensen & Jared separately said something similar in each of their meet & greets.    I hope I can find a video of the moment during the J2 panel where Jensen talks about this, because it is one of the main reasons I follow this show so closely.

Adam Malin (of Creation) posted this on his FB this afternoon.  It's a photo I emailed him a day or so ago in an email where I thanked him and his crew for a great con.   As well as suggesting that Felicia Day and a Behind-the-Scenes panel would be awesome for future cons.

I'm in the process of processing and uploading Karaoke photos.  Between myself and my daughter, we took a shitload of photos.  I love taking photos at the Karaoke parties.  Love seeing the fans enjoy themselves and interact with the cast.   I wasn't feeling well that night so my daughter took about half of these.  She told me to process and post them as usual.  Some of them I can tell were hers just by what was happening at the time.  Others are a blur as to who took what, when.   I do know that this one is mine as I made a specific point of framing the shot.   :)




I will be posting more Karaoke photos likely tonight.  Probably not all of them because there are way too many.  I'll have to add to the postings over time.
