Is the “hallucination” Dean saw in Sam at the beginning of the episode really Sam’s demonic face? Didn’t Sam look a little demonic in that opening sequence with Dean? *shudder* The smile that doesn't really touch the eyes?

OMG! I hadn't thought of that! Bobby pointed out that Dean was seeing demon's true forms since he was "almost Hell's bitch. So, you can see Hell's other bitches." (Hee!)

Bobby had also pointed out earlier that Dean was hallucinating because "that's what happens when you got hell hounds on your butt."

So which was it? Was Dean hallucinating when he saw this?

Or was he seeing something in Sam that was demonic?

Update: Hmmm... Dean also said after he killed demon!Cop that he'd seen lot's of things, but nothing like this--referring to see the demon!Cop's true form. So maybe what Dean saw really was just a hallucination. Because, in Crossroads, Evan saw his wife in similar form just before the hounds came for him. And I don't really think she was demonic!
