Vancon 2012 :: Just about ready...

growyourwingsRunning errands for 5 hours this afternoon. Ugh. Laundry just about done. Clothes mostly packed (other than a few items in the laundry).
And why is it that I cannot pack clothes sparingly for these cons? I can never make up my mind what I want to wear so I pack as many options as I can fit in my suitcase. And as we are driving, that means I can pack more than one separate bag for electronic/camera gear. *headdesk*.
Crap I just remembered that I need a bag to carry my con albums in. Assuming i want to bring the two that contain past con stuff. I really should just leave them and only bring the current album. It's not like I don't have all the stuff online anyway. Yeah, I'll just move a few of the J photos to my Vancon 2012 album (which is thin) and leave it at that. Maybe. Probably. Sheesh.
Camera gear is all packed. Good thing I had already decided that I was not going to bring my new (and wonderfully light) tripod. Even supposing I could somehow use it at my seat (which is not an aisle) without annoying the hell out of people (unlikely), people on stage move around so much that it would likely drive me bananas to have the camera on a tripod. I've just never had the option before because my 20 year old tripod was so heavy and huge and cumbersome that I would never dream to take it. I'm also only taking 2 lenses as I've now got just about the perfect two lenses for just about any situation other than extreme wide angle. I'm bringing my flash even though I don't like using it for these things, but since I am closer than I've ever been before, I may just give it try. Usually I'm just far enough away that a flash would do nothing but annoy my seatmates and just give those folks on stage more flash blindness without really adding much to the quality of the photos. But I'm close enough this time (row B folks!!!) that I may experiment.
I was surprised that Creation didn't remove or add any new guests when the posted the schedule today. Although it is worrisome that both Julian and Julie still say "tentative" under their pictures. Plus I had kinda wanted 1-2 more guests. Is it just me? Or does Friday & Saturday seem even lighter in panels than usual. I think I may have commented on this for Burcon as well and I ended up enjoying that con a lot. I'm getting jaded though, I notice all the activity listed on Friday & Saturday for M&Gs and photo ops, all of which cost extra. *sigh* But hey, just hanging with fellow fans and friends is fun enough.
Everything's printed that I plan on using for autos. Thank goodness. One benefit of Creation not changing anything. Although I would not bet anything that changes will not occur tomorrow or Thursday.
I'm beat man and we haven't even left yet.
