Need some advice about Creation Cons...

My friend and I have taken the plunge and are attending the Creation Con in March in L.A.  The Salute to Supernatural.

My friend has been to numerous SciFi Conventions.  I have never been to any convention despite the fact that I've been a SciFi fan almost my whole life (got this thing about crowds).  We've been talking for a while about going to one of these the next time both Jared and Jensen were booked.  We live on the West Coast - so LA was perfect. 

We've already purchased the Gold Weekend Package.  However, we need some advice from anyone who has been either to a Creation Con or specifically to one featuring Supernatural.  They haven't posted a detailed schedule yet and we were wondering if we should:

• Fly into LA on Friday evening or Saturday morning?  At this point we've basically decided for Friday afternoon/evening.
• Is it better to fly out Sunday afternoon or evening?  Or Monday morning?  Does much happen at these things after noon on Sundays?
• Do they always offer photo opportunities?  If so, when do you usually hear about those?

Any other tips you'd like to share and we'd be all ears.  I'll be cross-posting this to a few communities as well.
