All women, plus the people who care about them, should want to respond to this.  We, the people, must start exerting our own voice.  We are like the ant, alone we may not be able to do much, but together we can be a powerful force to overcome any barrier in our path. Please forward this and encourage a response.

Subject: Be my Bra.

From a nurse:

I'll never forget the look in my patients' eyes when I had to tell them they had to go home with the drains, new exercises and no breast. I remember begging the Doctors to keep these women in the hospital longer, only to hear that they would, but their hands were tied by the insurance companies. So there I sat with my patients, giving them the instructions they needed to take care of themselves, knowing full well they didn't grasp half of what I was saying, because the glazed, hopeless, frightened look spoke louder than the quiet 'Thank You' they muttered. A mastectomy is when a woman's breast is removed in order to remove cancerous breast cells/tissue. If you know anyone who has had a Mastectomy, you may know that there is a lot of discomfort and pain afterwards.. Insurance companies are trying to make mastectomies an outpatient procedure. Let's give women the chance to recover properly in the hospital for 2 days after surgery.

It takes 2 seconds to do this and is very important. Please take the time and do it! Please send this to everyone in your address book. If there was ever a time when our voices and choices should be heard, this is one of those times.

If you're receiving this, it's because I think you will take the 30 seconds to vote on this issue and send it on to others you know who will do the same. There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It's about eliminating the 'drive-through' Mastectomy where women are forced to go home just a few hours after surgery, against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached.

Lifetime Television has put this bill on their Web page with a petition drive to show support. Last year over half the House signed on. PLEASE!! Sign the petition by clicking on the web site below. You need not give more than your name, state, and zip code.

This takes about 2 seconds.
PLEASE PASS THIS ON
to your friends and  family, and on
behalf of all women,

THANKS

I talked with a few people online about this last night. But wanted to put in my LJ.

Although I still feel a little like it's highway robbery, I can't really be sad or sorry I'm doing this. It's one of the main reasons I wanted to go to the SPN Con in Vancouver--the chance to see the sets and/or locations and the IMPALA!

So while last night I was very annoyed at Creation (for extortion!) and myself (for paying it), I'm very glad today that I did this.

And despite my disgruntlement with Creation yesterday, I'll admit that I'm very happy to do business with them.  Especially after reading online about how some folks missed out on photo ops, autos, and panels at the recent Asylum Con in England.   The Set Tours for Vanc are scheduled for Saturday morning before any panel events.  Creation is very good about not overbooking or double scheduling items.  And they really have lines down like Disney!  One of my favorite memories from LA 2009 is one of the Con volunteers shepherding us through a Photo Op line using the line "...and we're walking...and we're walking...and we're not touching that!" from an episode of SPN.

[livejournal.com profile] fickleone  and I did get the Thursday all-day location tour as well. But Creation has said we can get refunds since we were confused about the location vs. set tours. We're trying to decide whether to keep the location tour or not.

But I'm definitely keeping the Set Tour!!!

(I'm way too obsessed with this damn car.  Every time I see one in our area, I'm all...LOOK!  It's an IMPALA!!!!  And then I whip out my camera if I can.  My husband and I saw a 65 Impala (2-door) for sale the other day.  $3,800.  Took photos.  Someday I'll get around to uploading the photo.)

EXCLUSIVE AND UNPRECEDENTED:
THE SUPERNATURAL SET TOURS!

June 1, 2009
For immediate release

Creation Entertainment today announced that attendees of The Salute to Supernatural Convention in Vancouver, held over the weekend of August 28 to 30, 2009, will have an unprecedented opportunity to visit the sets and locations of the popular television series which is filmed in the city.

Fans will be offered guided tours of the Supernatural standing sets where they will witness the exceptional quality of detail, workmanship and artistry spread over three enormous sound stages. Tour guides will be members of the Supernatural production team, escorting groups through sets as well as production areas including props, wardrobe, and workshops. Actual hero props including the Winchester Colt and Sam and Dean's shotguns will be on view.  [Hey!  The Colt!  I was so annoyed and excited last night about the Impala I didn't notice this part.]

Now here's the big one: fans will get a once in a lifetime chance to have a photo taken with The Winchesters' famed black Impala. This treasured keepsake will be provided as part of the tour and delivered to participants prior to the close of the convention.

These exclusive set tours are available on a limited basis and will be capacity controlled to insure the highest quality of viewer experience.

Two additional Location Tours will be offered where a select group of attendees will travel with Supernatural's Location Manager to many of the sites seen on the show over its four seasons. These bus tours will run from 9 am to 5 pm on the Thursday prior and Monday following the convention.

The convention, held at The Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre, will feature the first ever Supernatural Prop and Costume Museum, culled from the exceptional production assets of the show. Series stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki headline the line-up of celebrity guest appearances at the gathering.

Erin Ferries, VP of Licensing for Creation Entertainment stated, "It is a pleasure for our company to be part of presenting this incredible experience for the worldwide legion of Supernatural fans. Supernatural fandom has been amazingly passionate and supportive of the series and its stars and this weekend will be a wonderful thank you to them. We are indebted to Eric Kripke, the Producers and Production Team of Supernatural and Warner Bros. for making it happen."

Full details on the event will be available at:

Was finally reading the details of the set & location tours posted last night for Vanc Con.

Just noticed this:

"The convention, held at The Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre, will feature the first ever Supernatural Prop and Costume Museum, culled from the exceptional production assets of the show."

So the props will be at the hotel!  Cool!  That means we should be able to take photos!

Cool!

I'm getting SO excited to see the Impala! And to have my photo taken with her! I got it in my head to try to do an Impala Picspam.

Dudes....

Do you KNOW how much the Impala was featured in the Pilot? She was like in practically EVERY scene!

So in honor of Dean's baby...
