Top 10 SPN Episodes

growyourwingsAnyone else following the Buddy TV series of postings about the Top Ten Supernatural Episodes?
Some guy(?) is counting down his top 10 daily starting with #10. Today he did #7--which was Mystery Spot for him. You can find it here and there are links to the previous entries.
I was briefly inspired to try to do my Top 10. I posted something similar (here) back in April because of some contest (or something) from SPN Mag asking fans about their favorite episode by season.
So I did a quick list of all the episodes that I thought could be in my Top 10. Came up with about 23 (or so) and I found it very depressing to try to eliminate some of the episodes! I liked them all!
But I decided to post my list anyway. I just kept all the others as honorable mentions.
My Top Ten (and I still don't feel right only listing 10 and I could change my mind very easily)
1 3x11 Mystery Spot
My top three as so close that I could call them all #1. But Mystery Spot just holds a special place in my heart. Actually for all the reasons mentioned by the fellow on BuddyTV. I love the combination of comedy and darkness is this episode. Any episode that showcase sthe talents so well of both boys deserved to be #1. And the synchronized talking!
2 2x20 What Is and What Should Never Be
I'm tired right now--so I'm just going to paste my comments about WIAWSNB from April: "Right now this episode is tied with Mystery Spot for my all-time favorite episode. Do I need to even say this? Dean's moments with his mother (I could mention each and every one and get teary eyed doing it). Dean's "talk" with his father in the graveyard asking why they have to be the heroes (again with the teary-eyes). Dean's realization that he's not close to Sammy in this world. Dean's realization that his staying put means that all the people he and his family saved, will have died. Dean's choosing to go back despite his "family's" attempts to convince him to stay. And as an added bonus--Sammy in *that* suit."
Also I've been trying to get my mother interested in SPN. Kinda a lost cause because she doesn't tend to like these types of shows. But one night I had her watch WIAWSNB. Afterwards she turned to me and said, "Now I know why you like this show so much." Yeah! Jensen for the win!
3 3x08 A Very Supernatural Christmas
Again from back in April: "The amulet! Weechesters! Dean taking care of Sammy! The pagan gods from Leave it to Beaver!"
4 2x01 In My Time of Dying
From April: "I *love* this episode. John's sacrifice. Sam's support of Dean. Dean's conversation with Tessa the Reaper. Fred Leyne's first appearance as YED. And he's *terrific* as YED!"
5 3x03 Bad Day at Black Rock
This episode was just so hilarious. And really..."I lost my shoe!" and "I'm Batman!" are just priceless.
6 2x14 Born Under a Bad Sign
From back in April: "Our first glimpse of Jared doing evil!Sam (even if it really was demon!Meg). Jared just so totally rocked this episode. I can remember calling![[info]](https://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif)
fickleone during one of the commercial breaks going O. M. G!!!!"
7 2x15 Tall Tales
The Trickster! And the funnies! And bitchface!Sam: "Dean, *what* do you think you're doing?!!". And purple nurples! And slow dancing with an alien to Lady in Red. And more Bobby!
8 3x12 Jus In Bello
I really loved Henricksen in this. I love how he and Dean bonded.
9 2x12 Nightshifter
Just the perfect standalone episode. One of the ones I choose when trying to convince people to watch. Plus--the Renegade song at the end. PLUS Henriksen. Plus the Mandroid! Plus Ronald Reznik!
10 1x06 Skin
Because it was the first episode that really started to get me hooked (although I didn't realize it at the time.) And I loved Jensen playing Dean and shapeshifter!Dean.
Honorable Mentions (in no particular order)
1x18 Something Wicked - wee!chesters!
1x09 Home - One of the first episode where you begin to realize there's something else going on--a longer story arc.
1x10 Asylum - One of the best MOTW stories.
1x17 Hell House - The towel! Early Ghostfacers. The prank war.
1x01 Pilot - I mean it started it all!
2x17 Heart - Do I really have to say why?
2x03 Bloodlust - Gordon.
2x10 Hunted - Gordon again.
2x21 All Hell Breaks Loose, Part 1 - Dean holding Sammy as he dies.
2x22 All Hell Breaks Loose, Part 2 - Dean mourning Sammy. Dean killing the YED.
3x07 Fresh Blood - And Gordon again.
