Vancon 2013 :: Random stories of the Js...

This morning a couple of random J moments surfaced in my head, so I thought I'd post them quickly before I forget.
I had so much fun meeting/seeing SPN behind the scenes folks that I've completely forgotten about posting about my J&J M&Gs and photo ops. Heck even Felicia Day beat them out in my experiences at Vancon. Not that the Js weren't wonderful (as usual).
Jared chatted with me a good 5 minutes at the start of his M&G and hugged me (gently this time due to neck). I got two photos with Jared since I was talking to much to him in the first and Chris had us re-pose. During his M&G, it was like Jared was interacting with a bunch of friends. I commented a couple of times later to my friends that you can really see how differently the Js approach their M&Gs/fan interactions. Both motivated by who they are individually and by wanting to show respect to the fans. Jared is all friendly and chatty and while he does answer questions and looks at the person who asked the question, he also pulls in all the others in the room around him to include them. Jared was (typically) energetic; he was fidgiting with how much he wanted to tell us what was coming in S9, but he kept saying, "that I just *can't* tell you ... but I really *want* to ... can't *wait* until you find out."
For Jensen, he comes into his M&Gs, greets everyone as a group. Sits down and with very little pre-chattiness, gets right to answering questions. And as Jensen does, he looks right at the person answering, in the eyes, during the whole time he is answering. He is friendly and outgoing. But he is focused.
I believe the two styles just show how they both are when they want to show the fans their appreciation. Jensen understands that people in his M&G spent a lot of $$$ to be there and wants them to get as much value as possible, so he focuses in on the questions to give the fans as much as he can. Jared shows his appreciation by being chatty and pulling in everyone as much as he can.
At my Jensen solo photo op, Jensen greeted me with his usual "nice to see you again" and gently rubbed my back for a moment. Another favorite Jensen moment was at his auto signing. A young woman (older teen or younger 20) was in front of me in line. Suddenly Jensen made some kinda of exclamation and I looked over and he was slumped over, face down on the signing table. He then looked back up at the girl and said, "What age did you say you were when you started watching me?" with this bemused expression on his face. As she replied (some very young age), I started cracking up and added, that if it helped I was in my 40s when I started watching him (which, in retrospect seems a bit creepy to me, but whatever, lol.) He was looking at the girl with chin resting in his hand and his eyes moved over to me and we stared at each other for a good 3 seconds or so. Him with his eyebrows raised in that Dean way, and still with the bemused, "when did I get *old*?" look in his eyes. I laughed and smiled back. It was good. When he signed my SPN book, I added that however my kids *did* start watching when they were young (not sure that comment helped, but again, whatever.) He smirked.
I don't know, perhaps it's the parent in me. But we have watched these two guys grow up and to me I got a very mature (not in a bad way), parent vibe from Jensen. Actually from both of them. They both seem pretty settled in their skins and happy and content. They have a great job with good people. They have a wonderful and special friendship. They are happily married with kids. I was photographing my nephew's newborn son yesterday. I've known Kyle (my nephew) since he was 4 years old. Watched him grow up. Watching him around his newborn son I also found myself noting that he seemed subtly different. I remember when our first child arrived, it was like a switch was flipped and I became (internally) a "responsible adult". This is how the Js seemed to me this time; just my opinion of course.
As much as I do appreciate a little "baby talk", I thought it went a bit too far at the J2 Breakfast. As the baby questions continued, I thought Jensen was starting to get a bit uncomfortable. And I thought that Jared was aware of it as well. Right after I thought that was when Jensen went into his funny bit about this being a panel on parenting and Seb was holding the "sex" panel in the other room. lol. I really think that Jensen and Danneel have really decided that JJ is totally separate from their professional lives. Whereas (as I commented to someone else), Jared is all this is my life, let me share it.
All my commenting on how becoming parents have subtly changed them, is not to say they aren't as fun as always. Just that there's now a underlying *something* that is different; in a subtle way. In any case, they seem very happy and content. Which makes me smile and makes me happy. Ridiculous how much these two guys mean to me given that I don't really know them, nor they me.
And then hearing that they may be starting a wine company together (via some tweet and/or stories reported from fans). That makes me VERY happy. They will be friends/close/brothers forever. :)
