All this wank reflects badly on Show
May. 21st, 2008 10:04 amSo RL and work have been taking up all my time. *gasp!* I haven't had much time to read anything on LJ other than a few odd posts here and there.
I've seen various references to a new wank going on. Seems to be about SPN and misogyny. And I may have caught a whiff of something about Dean calling Bela or Ruby (can't remember which) a "skank."
I was actually kinda glad that I didn't have much LJ time because I figured I didn't need to hear about a wank right now.
But then I stumbled across this comment in someone's post:
This comment just worried me. The LJ I found this on was not someone who was an SPN viewer but was commenting on the recent wank in SPN. She was discussing political correctness.
Here's a discussion going on that's leading folks to think SHOW is a bad. That it's disturbing. That it hates women.
I definitely do not want to get into a debate on whether SPN is misogynistic or not. But I don't like folks that have never seen SPN to assume the show is all about women-hating heroes.
It's amazing how impressions people take from both written and spoken language are interpreted so many different ways.
hmmm.
In a way, that's the root cause of all my angst around work lately!
People. Can't live with 'em. Can't live without 'em. *winks*

"Having said all this, I don't watch SPN, but if what I think people said about the show is true, it really disturbed me. And I was a bit surprised, without some huge moral story with the anvil of non-subtlety that the 'hero' could say those things on US television."
