That was okay.  If I wasn't overall missing the old Sam & Dean relationship and chemistry, and this was just any show, I would even say that was a good episode.

I found myself thinking (again) that the Benny storyline is interesting.   I like Ty Olsson and what he's doing with it.  I liked Dean.   I, as usual, enjoyed the Purgatory bits - love the way they are filming that.   I kinda liked the way the Leviathans shot down from above.   Neat effect.  Not sure how it fits in with what we know about Leviathans, but no matter.  Neat effect.

I didn't mind the Sam & Amelia bits.   At least she didn't come of as an unlikeable bitch (much) (as opposed to likeable bitches - which I like, lol.)   And while I seem to be the only person who's never heard of the actress who is playing Amelia, I found myself thinking at one point that she's a good actor.

I did find myself wondering at one point how long after Dean vanished was the bit of Sam talking with Amelia about being alone.  Because he sure did not seem like he was dealing with any extreme loss or anything.  Perhaps that was his way of dealing - to not express emotion.  To be shut down.   This is nothing against Sam (or Jared).  Just an observation.

Speaking of good acting-Not.   What is it with the show lately hiring baby-actors who ... can't act?   WTF was up with Benny's maker (whatever his name was) and his side kick (Serreno???)   Like high school acting.  Kinda like the kids in the last episode.   And who else was not surprised that Benny's former lover-turned vampira, sent Benny off to kill their maker so that she could take over the operation?  Surprise!  *eyeroll*   (Edit, I should also add that Dean killing Benny's vampira also did not surprise me.  Saw that coming.)

I did really enjoy Benny, and Ty's performance, in that scene however.   Thinking more about it, I could actually see the character of Benny being able to support his own storyline in a separate show.   I find the character very interesting.

Wow, for someone who actually kinda liked the ep, I'm sounding a bit butt-hurt.   I sound like Fritz, the faux-hookman from the Real Ghostbusters.   Complaining.   Sorry.

I felt a bit of the old Sam & Dean chemistry - but it was between Dean and Benny.   And while I enjoyed that and their chemistry together, it's still a bit   :(   to me.  Although, I was glad to see Sam freaking out a bit when he was driving to help Dean and he could not get ahold of him.   I liked that.

There's a kinda major inconsistency to me though.   If I recall correctly, in the Twi-Hard episode and in the episode where Gordon turns vamp, don't vamps have extra-special hearing?   They can hear human heartbeats from half a block away?   Smell the blood pumping from a distance?  So how is it that in a nest of vampires inside the same house, Dean is able to stand just around a corner from a vamp and the vamp doesn't know he's there?  AND Dean is able to have a rather loud argument with Sam on the phone and it isn't until the long phone call is basically OVER that a vamp just happens upon Dean?   And why would Dean call Sam back when he was hiding from the vamps that he knew (from personal experience) have supernatural senses?   Just to demand in an annoyed voice about why Sam called him?  If Dean wanted help from Sam, texting him his "20" with "need help, in vamp nest" would work pretty well I think. And be a lot less noisy.

But.  Whatever.

Earlier today I was reading some interview about the season.  It was likely one of Ty's recent interviews, can't recall for sure.  Anyway at one point I found myself thinking, "Wow, is Dean the prize or something?  Sure seems like everyone wants to be his brother/buddy/best friend."   Everyone wants Dean.   Of course I totally understand that.   But when did this show become, "It's all about Dean?"  (And that thought comes from a Dean!girl.)   Still, I do understand the sentiment.

Again, overall I thought the episode was well done.  Enjoyed the Purgatory bits.  Didn't mind the Sam & Amelia bits, although I kinda enjoyed poking at the scenes a bit.   I've just kind of given up on the old Sam & Dean chemistry.  I have trouble believing it will ever come back.   So I'm enjoying the show for Jensen & Jared and the cast and crew and just as an overall show in a genre that I enjoy AND especially because I love this damn show so much.

Even when I bitch about it.

Wow. That was an inconsistent reaction.  Huh.
