Spn 3x16 question (Spoiler)

My husband picked up right away that Lilith was in Ruby's body. He called it during the show last night. I hadn't even thought of that. I was impressed.
So later last night he states that Lilith was in Ruby from the moment at which Ruby showed up at the house. I argued that no--it had to be later. That the little girl Lilith was shown after Ruby showed up. I had assumed that Lilith took over Ruby at the moment that Sam and Ruby separated upstairs and Ruby went into the bedroom.
I'm rewatching the ep (for the 3rd time) and I was wrong. They don't show little girl Lilith after Ruby shows up at the house. Just before Ruby shows up they show the little girl laying on the bed while her mother reads to her.
Then they cut to Sam and Dean killing the mailman and "Mr. Rogers" and then Ruby shows up as Sam and Dean approach the house.
Dean asks Ruby "how the hell did you get out?" Ruby replies, "What you don't know about me can fill a book."
Dean looks at Ruby/(Lilith?) and grimaces and makes a remark about how Ruby/(Lilith?) is "one ... ugly ... broad." So Dean has "seen" what Ruby (or is it Lilith?) looks like. Which may be the only clue as to when Lilith took over Ruby????
Then Ruby(Lilith?) asks Sam for the knife. Sam calls her a bitch (hee!)
Shortly thereafter Dean notices that the neighborhood demons have found them out.
Question: Is Ruby actually Lilith when she shows up? Did Lilith know the boys were approaching, left the girls body and called her demons? Were the mailman or Mr. Rogers able to warn Lilith before they were killed? Remember they were killed after we last saw child!Lilith.
When Dean, Sam, and Ruby/Lilith enter the house, Dean asks Ruby/Lilith, "Do you think Lilith knows we're here?" Ruby/Lilith replies, "Probably."
And then run into the Dad and continue through the house to find "Lilith". And we're back to Ruby/Lilith and Sam being separated.
Cut to the scene where Sam, Dean, and Ruby/Lilith are in the room hiding from the hell hounds. Ruby again asks Sam for the knife. Dean cries out "Wait!" And says, "Sam that's not Ruby."
After Lilith slams both the boys down, Dean asks "How long you been in her?" Lilith replies, "Not long." (very helpful--not).
Then Dean says, "I should have seen it before. But you all look alike to me." Now this implies that he would know the difference between how Ruby looks and how Lilith looks in their true demon form. Since Dean's only been able to do this as he got closer to midnight AND he didn't remark on how Ruby looked until she showed up at the house. This implies that when Dean first saw Ruby at the house--it WAS Ruby. Or else how would he be able to tell the difference between Ruby and Lilith?
HOWEVER, one question still not answered is how did Ruby get out of the Devil's Trap? I had assumed she somehow got herself out. But maybe Lilith was warned by Mailman or Mr. Rogers, left little girl, went to get Ruby, broke the trap (because she's that far up the pay grade), and then took over Ruby.
Whaddya think?
Either way, I'm still impressed Bob picked up on this.
