Chicago not Dallas
May. 10th, 2008 08:27 amSo it looks like
fickleone,
mrsr58, and I are switching from the Dallas convention to the Chicago convention.
I think it was just meant to be.
1) Last Wednesday at work we were forced to change our board review of the program I'm managing from 6/28 to 6/9. However, on 6/9 I was scheduled to be on a flight back from Dallas. Now while no one was forcing me to change my plans, I've learned from experience that *not* being in the room for one of these political, executive reviews tends to generate more problems then if I'm there hearing and responding to things myself. As much as it was tempting to get a "get out of jail free card" and not have to sit through a potentially painful political conflict--it's better if I'm there. PLUS I would have to shave 2 days off of my prep work *for* the committee because I'd have to get on a plane on the Friday before to get to Dallas.
2) Last week
fickleone also found out she has a conflict with a commitment of hers. One that was likely to at a minimum force her to reschedule her return flight so that she could be back home earlier in the day.
3) Then, Jensen cancelled Dallas. But (at least for now) both boys are scheduled to be in Chicago. While that could still change, I feel that at least while the boys are filming SPN they are less likely to get pulled unless there is some huge unforeseen delay in production. *puts on optimistic hat*
4) Plus, for me not
fickleone, I always felt like June was a bit too soon after the LA Con for me. There's a chance I may not be able to attend any more conventions after this due to some "rock-and-a-hard" thing stuff I'm going through right now. So if (and that's only an "if") this next convention is my last (*sob*) at least it will be a little more evenly spaced between the LA Con and the end-timeframe of the show.
5) And finally, my husband has family he's never seen that live in Chicago. When I asked for his opinion yesterday, he immediately said--Go to Chicago. There's a chance he may choose to come along -- not to attend the convention, but to visit family.
