Yes, it's ANOTHER meme! (about how old I am...*sigh*)
I'm not getting older I'm getting .... um .... forgetful? um.... what was I talking about again? um.... oh yeah!
It's a MEME! Snagged from
isisfrog
[x] I've been to a drive-in movie theater.
[ ] I saw the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show.
[z] I voted for (or could have) Ronald Reagan. (I don't think I actually voted for Reagan--at least the first time anyway--because I remember thinking it was weird that the guy I used to watch in movies was running for president. But I could have voted for him.)
[x] I was in a Christmas pageant in public school.
[x] I remember what I was doing when John Kennedy died. (I was very young. But I must have remembered it because of my mother's reaction I guess. We were in our basement where my mother was ironing clothes while watching TV.)
[x] I used to watch Star Trek during its original run. (Um? Yes!! This was the start of my fannish obessions. I watched from day one. I remember my brother and I being so upset when season 3 was moved to 10 pm because it meant we couldn't say up to watch. My brother, myself, and our friends in the neighborhood used to role play Star Trek. I was always Uhuru. Our friend Jay's basement was the Enterprise. My brother and Jay played Kirk and Spock -- I can't remember who played who. They always wanted to leave me in the basement while they went on away parties because Uhuru always stayed on the bridge. No way! I always went with them!)
[x] I know what 45 and 33-1/3 describes (Yup! Spent hours with my 45's)
[x] I've ridden in cars that didn't have seat belts. (As a matter of fact I used to lay in the "shelf" over the backseat of the car to nap. I loved looking up through the rear window at the stars. This is one of the reasons I enjoy watching Mad Men--it's weird to remember how mother's would be upset if you played with the plastic that covered clean laundry not because she was afraid you'd get hurt--but because you might dirty the laundry!)
[z] I used to watch Romper Room. (It was on. But I didn't watch it. Did watch Captain Kangaroo though.)
[ ] I belonged to Future Homemakers of America. (Nope, Tomboy here.)
[ ] I've gone to an Elvis Presley concert.
[x] I own/used to own an 8-track player.
[ ] I used to wear a hat, doilie, or handkerchief on my head in church.
[x] I've bought a McDonald's cheeseburger for 18 cents. (Probably--don't remember costs way back in the day.)
[x] would go to sleep while or just after watching Johnny Carson.
[x] I have watched a black and white television. (I can remember when we got our first color TV. The first show we watched on it was Bewitched.)
[z] I have/used to have a leisure suit. (Not really--cuz despite the fact I was a tomboy--I wore jeans, not leisure suits)
[ ] I've been to a tent revival.
[ ] I attended Woodstock.
[x] I've been to a state fair and looked at the animal barns.
[x] I could spin a hula-hoop around my middle.
[ ] I've been spanked at school by a teacher/principal.
[ ] I've been to a Cher concert.
[x] I watched The Sonny and Cher Show during its original run
[x] I looked forward to hearing Guy Lombardo play "Auld Lang Syne."
[ ] I called adults "Sir" or "Ma'am."
[ ] I've had a smallpox vaccination.
[x] I used to watch Dick Clark on American Bandstand
[x] I've been to a rodeo.
[ ] I've competed in a rodeo.
[ ] I scheduled my evenings around Dynasty. (I didn't like Dynasty or any of those Dallas-type shows.)
[x] I've sold Girl Scout cookies
[ ] I am/was in a fraternity/sorority.
[x] I've eaten breakfast at a Sambo's Restaurant.
[z] I had a poster of Farrah Fawcett on my wall/door. (Nope--but I did have the haircut)
[ ] I had a crush on Ricky Nelson.
[x] I watched Neil Armstrong walk on the moon (Yup! My brother and I were watching in our parent's bedroom. We were riveted.)
[ ] I had an aluminum Christmas tree and a color-wheel lamp.
[x] I have/had a fondue pot and use/used it.
[x] I've used a rotary phone.
[z] I've been to West Berlin before German reunification. (Didn't actually go into Berlin. But looked over the fence into East Germany.)
[ ] I had a paper credit card.
[ ] I played with a Water Wiggle.
[z] I danced all night to Donna Summer and Whitney Houston. (Didn't dance--don't like to. But listened to Donna Summers a lot. Yes, I know...Disco...*hangs head in shame*)
[ ] I've driven/ridden in a Pacer. (No, but does a Nova count?)
[ ] I've stayed up all night playing Risk. (Don't play games.)
[x] I saw the original Star Wars movie in a theater. (Yes! First time movie lines went OUT of CONTROL! So much fun (really!) standing in line for hours with others. I saw this movie seven times in the theatre. I can still remember seeing the original trailer. It had a shot of Luke grabbing Leia and swinging across an expanse in the Death Star. My jaw was hanging open. It was so DIFFERENT! It was SciFi! I HAD to see this!)
[x] I've taken group showers with members of my junior/senior high school class. (Um... Yeah? Doesn't this still happen???)
[x] I remember when HIV was called HTLV-IV
[x] I watched The Simpsons when it was a short on The Tracy Ullman Show. (OMG, I'd forgotten that!)
[z] I had to install MS-DOS on my computer before I installed Windows. (Not really, we had an Apple first and by the time we switched to Windows you didn't have to do this anymore.)
[x] I have/had a Sony Walkman. (back when it used Cassette tapes)
[ ] I modeled my hair and clothes on people in Beverly Hills 90210. (Um. No? Again not liking the Dynasty, Dallas, 90210 kinda show)
[x] I've played PacMan (And PONG!)
[ ] I've put on a suit and tie/dress to go shop at the downtown department store.
[ ] I saw Top Gun in the theater more than six times.
[z] I've read Rushdie's The Satanic Verses. (No, but I remember all the news shows about it.)
[x] I've used a Jane Fonda workout video.
[x] I remember when Michael Jackson was black. (Hee! I was a fan of Michael back in the Jackson Five days. He lost me shortly after Beat It.)
[x] I know who shot J.R. (Yeah, even though I didn't watch that show. You couldn't be ALIVE and not hear about that.)
[x] I owned a pet rock. (More than one in fact.)
[x] I have/had a Betamax VCR. (Yup! I can remember what an occasion that was too!)
[ ] I had "all the way" sex before I was married and had to keep it secret. (Um? Secret? No, but that was me, not the times.)
[ ] I burned a bra and/or draft card
[ ] I've ridden in a double-decker bus. (Yes, but that was a tourist thing somewhere--can't even remember where)
[x] I've ridden in the back window of my parents' car. (Hee! I really thought I was the only kid who did that!)
[x] I've edged the grass in a yard with hand clippers.
[x] I had a television aerial outside my house.
Wow. That was long.
