Weirdness...

It's probably just because I'm tired.  I didn't get much more than 4 hours of sleep last night.  But things seem weird to me tonight.

Tim has a book reading assignment this week.  "A Wrinkle In Time" is the book.  Some Newberry award winner I believe.  He's reading it in class and I bought the book on tape for us to listen to.  It's read by the author, who is surprisingly good at reading her book.  A lot of times author's suck at narrating their own book.  The book is very interesting.  Strange.  Weird.  About 3 children (one a 5 year old who seems to have some kind of special abilities) who end up meeting a set of three women, who aren't really women.  And who end up traveling with those "women" to another planet.  I believe they are in search of 2 of the children's missing father.  Anyway, interesting and weird.

So then, just randomly the end of last week I heard a podcast recommendation for Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" novel.  I love Gaiman's Sandman graphic novel and am in the middle of reading it.  So on a whim, I ordered the book through Amazon.  It came today.  Now, due to my recent descent into Attention Deficit Disorder due to my addiction to fanfic, I haven't really sat down and read a real book in ages.  And if I have, I never get around to finishing it.  But for some reason, this afternoon rather than picking up my laptop to read fanfic, I picked up "American Gods."

Okay I knew nothing about this book.  It's also weird (btw, I really like weird and different).  I'm only on page 41 but so far I'm reminded of not only the book Tim and I are listening to ("A Wrinkle in Time"), but also Supernatural.  No real idea where the book is going and I'm determined not to look online to find out.  Nor will I read the last few pages (which I've been known to do a lot.)

But still, I'm feeling weird and a little disoriented.  Kinda like the subject matter of both books is somehow real.

Again, I'm tired and I can be easily transported by books.  Years ago when I read "In Cold Blood" I felt kinda "evil" for days after.  Like the two main characters had somehow creeped into my psyche.  And I don't even wanna talk about what Stephen King's "It" did to me.  Evil Clown Apocalypse indeed.

So less than 2 weeks (OMG!!!! *hyperventilates*) until the LA con.   I watched Mystery Spot for about the billionth time this weekend and spent Sunday evening browsing LJ for meta's on the episode.  I really, really, really love that episode.  It's right up there with WIaWSNB for me.
